Dubai, UAE, November 12, 2021 (SKNIS): St. Kitts and Nevis’ rich culture and heritage, along with its sustainable tourism product, and the ingenuity and talent of its people will be on display on the world’s stage when the country celebrates its National Day ceremony at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on November 16, 2021. EXPO 2020 is being held from October 1 to March 31, 2022, under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.
The National Day ceremony will include Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris and his delegation, along with staff working at the St. Kitts and Nevis pavilion at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, cultural performances under the leadership of Mr. Troy Mills, Director of Culture, and performance by Soca Artist out of Nevis, Delly Ranks, along with other activities.
Additionally, there will be a flag-raising ceremony and playing of national anthems of both St. Kitts and Nevis and the UAE; official speech by a UAE representative; official speech by Prime Minister Harris, a tour of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Pavilion and the UAE pavilions, a country briefing and a press conference. Also, Prime Minister Harris will use the opportunity while in the UAE to officially open the St. Kitts and Nevis Embassy in Abu Dhabi where His Excellency Justin Hawley, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to the UAE is assigned. Prime Minister Harris will also hold bilateral meetings.
St. Kitts and Nevis’ National Day will be given full coverage by the EXPO News Service and EXPO Media and will be broadcast live on EXPO TV, which can be viewed on www.sknis.kn.
EXPO 2020 Dubai is a global cultural extravaganza bringing together 192 participating countries, each with its own pavilion, taking place the first time in World Expo history. Many of the pavilions were designed by world-famous architects. All pavilions are placed under three districts: the Sustainability District, the Mobility District or the Opportunity District. The St. Kitts and Nevis Pavilion is situated in the Sustainability District and is manned by Samuel Berridge, Desiree Huggins and Patrick Howell under the leadership of Elsa Wilkin-Armbrister, St. Kitts and Nevis’ Commissioner-General to EXPO 2020 Dubai.
EXPO 2020 Dubai was originally scheduled to take place from 20th October, 2020 to 10thApril, 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The name EXPO 2020 was kept for marketing and branding purposes. The making of EXPO 2020 Dubai took 8 years and 7 billion dollars.
