THE International Dancehall Queen Competition returns to the tourist capital of Montego Bay, St James, after a six-year hiatus, according to organisers.
It is scheduled for Pier One Entertainment Complex on Saturday, August 13, 2022.
The announcement was made at Pier One on Thursday evening.
“A safe and secure environment will be ensured with adequate security and safety procedures adhered to as stipulated by the parish council and the Jamaica Constabulary Force,” said Brian Martin, principal of Big Head Promotions.
Contestants will vie for more than $1,000,000 in cash and prizes. The females will be strutting their stuff to the latest dancehall music, decked out in creative costumes to capture the hearts of the judges while mesmerising the audience.
So far, representatives have entered from Canada, French Guiana, Mexico, Haiti, South Africa, France, United States, and Israel.
According to Martin, the International Dancehall Queen Competition will be part of a wider celebration dubbed MoBay Dance Music Fest, slated to run from August 7 to August 14 throughout various venues in Montego Bay.
“You can expect to have a nice time and see a peaceful staging of the show as the vibe and setting will be just right as we celebrate Emancipation weekend dancehall queen style,” he said.
